1st look at Shailene Woodley in 'Divergent'

Is it possible there's only room for one successful YA adaptation at a time? The Hunger Games essentially slid into place as the top film in the genre once Twilight began winding down, and we've seen every other attempt since run into a wall of negative response and low audience turn out. The Host and Beautiful Creatures went nowhere, and while The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones has some solid buzz, it's Divergent that many are thinking could be the next blockbuster.

A large part of the reason for high expectations is the cast, which includes the red-hot Shailene Woodley in the lead role of "Tris" Prior, a fearless character that many will liken to The Hunger Games' Katniss Everdeen. Although the film is still a year away, the marketing campaign is beginning early as EW has dropped the first image of Tris working with a set of knives. She may need the training considering the world she lives in, where society is divided up into five ideological factions. Tris is a "divergent", meaning she doesn't fit into any of them and becomes the target of an unknown enemy.

The impressive cast is rounded out by Kate Winslet, Theo James, Kate Winslet, Ray Stevenson, Mekhi Phifer, Maggie Q, Jai Courtney, Miles Teller, and Zoë Kravitz, who are filming now for release on March 21st 2014.
