First trailer for David Gordon Green's 'Prince Avalanche' with Paul Rudd and Emile Hirsch
The dramatic career shift taken by David Gordon Green is well-documented at this point. It's a sign of his versatility and willingness to take on new challenges that has him as the guy who directed thoughtful indies like George Washington, while also giving us the medieval stoner comedy Your Highness. His latest film, Prince Avalanche, is a blending of his auteur side with the mainstream, debuting at Sundance to solid reviews and high praise for stars Emile Hirsch and Paul Rudd. With the film slotting in the middle of the busy summer season, it'll be interesting to see if this peculiar little indie can make any noise.
The first trailer has arrived, and if it looks extremely minimal, well that's sort of the point. There are only four characters to be concerned about, with Rudd and Hirsch playing a two city workers repainting a country highway in the middle of summer. That's pretty much it in terms of plot, as the film is basically the conversations these two vastly insecure guys and the friendship that develops between them.
Prince Avalanche hits theaters and VOD on August 9th.
