Full Marvel Phase Two preview video, plus new images and concept art

Yesterday we were treated to a brief teaser of Marvel's Phase Two, which is part of the package of special features in the Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase One-Avengers Assembled box set. Fans who eagerly followed the clues within the set that led them to BattleofNewyork.net and entered a special code, also received what is a treasure trove of concept art and new images from Marvel's upcoming slate of superhero films. In addition, the full version of the Phase Two preview has now come online.

The first crop of images is concept art from Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and offers us a glimpse at how Falcon (Anthony Mackie) and the newly-reborn Bucky (Sebastian Stan) will appear in the film. Based on this, it appears that Marvel is going away from the comic book versions of these characters and going with sleeker designs. Chris Evans, Emily VanCamp, Samuel L. Jackson, Scarlett Johansson, Toby Jones, Frank Grillo, Cobie Smulders, Robert Redford, and Georges St. Pierre will also star when the film opens on April 4th 2014.

Guardians of the Galaxy promises to be the most offbeat Marvel film yet, but potentially the most important leading up to The Avengers sequel. Chris Pratt will add a humorous touch as team leader, Star-Lord, while Dave Bautista will go green as Drax the Destroyer. But the team also includes Rocket Raccoon and the plant creature, Groot, who will be portrayed through motion-capture. The art closely resembles video game graphics, and suggests the team will do more than battle the villain Thanos. They'll also be spending time with other intergalactic creatures in a Mos Eisley-style cantina. Directed by James Gunn, Guardians of the Galaxy opens on August 1st 2014.

Filming has wrapped on Thor: The Dark World, and for the most part the film has been flying under the radar compared to other Phase Two films. A large part of the reason is that there have been no major casting changes or additions, and the story a little separate compared to the others. But we know that Thor will play a crucial role, as he's still in possession of the all-powerful Tesseract. Not to mention that Thanos' Infinity Gauntlet sits in Odin's throne room. A number of behind-the-scenes photos show star Chris Hemsworth wielding the hammer Mjolnir as Thor, battling the dark elves on Asgard. We also get a look at the returning Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, and shots of Thor lost on Earth. Thor: The Dark World opens on November 8th 2013.

Edgar Wright's Ant-Man will kick off Marvel's Phase Three when it arrives on November 6th 2015, but we've still got some new concept art that closely resembles the director's test footage. The actual video preview for Phase Two mostly serves to hype the release of Iron Man 3, which opens on May 3rd.
