Mike Cahill and Brit Marling to reunite for 'I Origins'

Brit Marling and director Mike Cahill broke into the big time together with 2011's Sundance hit, Another Earth, but only one of them has really capitalized on the opportunities that came along with it. Marling, who co-wrote and starred in the sci-fi drama, has been everywhere of late, establishing herself as more than just the new art house favorite. But Cahill hasn't really been heard from until now, and he's turning to his old friend, and a few others, to get his follow-up feature moving.

Cahill will write and direct I Origins, with Marling, Michael Pitt (Boardwalk Empire), Astrid Bergès-Frisbey (Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides), Steven Yeun (Glenn on The Walking Dead), and Archie Panjabi (The Constant Gardener) agreeing to star. Pitt and Marling play molecular biologists who make a discovery that could change society in fundamental ways.

Sounds like another thoughtful look at the world through the lens of science-fiction, and while there's no production date revealed just yet, expect to see I Origins hit the festival circuit some time next year. [Deadline]
