Sure Shots: Rosario Dawson; Cole Hauser; Jennifer Garner
* Last month we learned that Chris Rock would be stepping behind the camera for the first time since 2007's I Think I Love My Wife. Not only would he direct, but Rock would pen the script and star in a story described as an "edgy comedy romance" set in the world of showbiz. While further details remain under wraps, we do know that Rosario Dawson, currently wowing audiences in Danny Boyle's Trance, will be taking on the female lead in Rock's film. Dawson will be seen next in the black and white and Sin City: A Dame to Kill For. [Deadline]
* Former Hollywood "It" guy Cole Hauser (Paparazzi) has joined the star-studded cast of Transcendence, the directorial debut by Christopher Nolan's longtime cinematographer, Wally Pfister. Starring Johnny Depp, Morgan Freeman, Rebecca Hall, Paul Bettany, Kate Mara, and Cillian Murphy, the sci-fi story follows a scientist who creates a computer that develops a malevolent awareness. Hauser will play a military officer called in to save the day, so maybe this will be a much better role than he had recently in A Good Day to Die Hard. [THR]
* Jennifer Garner is in talks to join Steve Carell in an Miguel Arteta's adaptation of Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. Based on Judith Viorst's cherish children's book, adapted by Lisa Cholodenko (The Kids Are All Right), the story centers on a family having the worst day of their lives. It begins as Alexander wakes up with gum in his hair and goes downhill from there. Garner will be seen soon in Dallas Buyers Club, and recently joined the cast of sports comedy, Draft Day. [Deadline]
