Zack Snyder will be offered 'Justice League' if 'Man of Steel' is a hit
It's becoming more apparent that Warner Bros. has every intention of having Zack Snyder direct Justice League. The rumor has been kicking around since early this year, and even though he has remained mum on the subject, it has never really died. Then again, how could it when Ruben Fleischer, another director on the shortlist, says things like "Well that’s something that Zack Snyder is going to wind up doing.", as he did recently.
Fleischer's prophetic claim may yet prove true, as Empire dropped an interesting note in the midst of their story on Snyder and Man of Steel....
“Warner Bros.’ long-term view has been revised to embrace this new vision, just as the Dark Knight films resisted the commodification of Marvel. Whether we get a Justice League, they say, depends on Man of Steel. If we do, they say, Zack Snyder will be asked to direct.”
We already knew that Warner Bros. was banking on Man of Steel's success before moving forward with Justice League or any other superhero films, but now we know Snyder's future plans are tied in with it as well. It doesn't mean he'll accept the job if offered, but he does sound as if the groundwork has been laid for both films to communicate similar to Marvel's approach with The Avengers....
Snyder: “We didn’t design the movie like Batman, but I don’t think anybody would say that you design a Superman movie as a one-off.”
With a runtime of 2 hours and 28 minutes, Man of Steel is going to be a long sit, certainly longer than your typical summer popcorn film. Snyder seems confident it will measure up to audience expectations.....
Snyder: “I have a hard time having perspective, but I have to say that it is everything that I could have hoped for. Touch wood that I am not insane, but it feels really good.”
Man of Steel begins deciding the fate of Justice League on June 14th.
