There are only five members of Marvel's quirky Guardians of the Galaxy team, and out of that one is a talking raccoon while the other is a talking tree creature. That meant competition would be fierce for the three humanoid roles, and we saw a number of names kicked around until Chris Pratt and Dave Bautista finally came aboard. But there's still one more left to be filled, and it's beginning to look like Star Trek's Zoe Saldana will be spending even more time in outer space.
Saldana has entered talks to play the green-skinned Gamora in the James Gunn-directed film. She'd be joining Pratt as team leader Star-Lord, and Bautista as the team bruiser, Drax the Destroyer. Gamora is another character with close ties to the villain Thanos, as she is his adopted daughter and the last of her species. He would grant her super-strength, speed, and a rapid healing factor, but she would eventually turn on him after discovering his true nature.

Latino Review is also reporting that Thanos' frequent henchman, The Controller, will be making an appearance in the film. Once a skilled scientist named Basil Sandhurst, he specializes in mind The Avengers 2.

With Avatar and Star Trek already under her belt, this would another major franchise for Saldana, who has obviously found a lot of success in the sci-fi genre. Guardians of the Galaxy hits theaters on August 1st 2014.
