Daniel Radcliffe to cover the criminal underworld in 'Tokyo Vice'

If Daniel Radcliffe continues to make bold choices in the roles he undertakes, it may not be long before people stop thinking of him as Harry Potter. After starring in the hit horror The Woman in Black, Radcliffe took on the role of poet Allen Ginsberg in Kill Your Darlings (review here), and has already wrapped an adaptation of Joe Hill's Horns and the romantic comedy The F Word. Next up, he'll take on another real life figure, playing journalist Jake Adelstein in Tokyo Vice.

Commercials director J.T. Rogers will make his big screen debut with the film, which is based on Adelstein's memoir about his time working the crime beat while writing for a Tokyo newspaper. That put him at odds with yakuza boss Tadamasa Goto, known as the "John Gotti of Japan", and Adelstein's exposing of the gangster led to death threats and a bounty on his head. Rogers will co-write the script with an assist by Adelstein, who continues to be an investigative reporter writing for a number of publications.

Production is slated to begin early next year.
