First Trailer and Images for Punk Rock Flick 'CBGB' Starring Alan Rickman, Rupert Grint, and Malin Akerman

Country, Blue Grass, and Blues. That's what CBGB stands for, and it was the original vision for Hilly Kristal when he opened the famous New York night club in 1973. But if there was anything the club very rarely ever had it was Country, Blue Grass, or Blues music, instead becoming the launching pad for some of the most famous punk rock bands in music history. The story of the CBGB and its "50,000 bands and one disgusting bathroom" is being brought to the big screen in a new film that shares the club's name.

The first trailer for CBGB has been released, and basically it looks like a smaller scale Rock of Ages. Directed by Randall Miller, reteaming with his Bottle Shock star Alan Rickman, the film follows Kristal's 30 years of running the iconic club as some of punk rock's most famous people passed through and made their name on his stage. Clearly this isn't meant to be a standard biopic, and the real hook will be the oddball casting choices to play rock icons. The cast includes Joel David Moore as Joey Ramone, Mickey Sumner as Patti Smith, Kyle Gallner is Lou Reed, Malin Akerman as Debbie Harry, Rupert Grint as Cheetah Chrome, Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins as Iggy Pop, and that's not even the half of it.

Co-starring Ashley Greene, Donal Logue, Johnny Galecki, Freddy Rodriguez, and Justin Bartha, CBGB opens in limited release on October 11th.
