First Trailer and Poster for David Sedaris Adaptation, 'C.O.G.'

Often referred to as the "rock star" writer, David Sedaris has found legions of fans for his works, including earning a couple of Grammy nominations for his popular audiobooks. But where most humorists and authors at his level usually have Hollywood beating down their door, it's taken some time for Sedaris to finally break onto the big screen, but now that's happened with Kyle Patrick Alvarez's adaptation of C.O.G.

Based on Sedaris' life story, chronicled in the essay collection Naked, the film stars Jonathan Groff (Glee) as David, who takes off to spend the summer working on a farm in the Northwest with his best friend, only to be left alone in an unfamiliar world where he begins to learn more about himself. The trailer does seem to capture a distinct, dry sense of humor, but whether or not that accurately reflects the author's voice is beyond me. This looks like a film that fans of Sedaris may love, but I'm not sure it'll play for anybody else.

Also starring  Troian Bellisario, Corey Stoll, Denis O’Hare, and Casey Wilson, C.O.G. opens on September 20th.
