Lena Headey Wields a Mean Frying Pan in Clip from 'The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones'

Screen Gems has extremely high hopes for The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, with a prequel in the works and the sequel, possibly starring Sigourney Weaver, in development. But with The Hunger Games sucking up all the YA air and films like Divergent and Vampire Academy hoping to do the same, it's a tough market to crack. That may be why they've released a lengthy five-minute clip of one of the film's more intense fight sequences.

The footage was presented to the Comic-Con crowd a couple of weeks ago, and has Lena Headey (Game of Thrones) in a furious battle against the demonic forces of evil in a cramped kitchen, while her daughter Clary Fray (Lily Collins) tries to mount a rescue. There's a ton of violence, although not much in the way of blood to protect the PG-13 rating, and the CGI is a bit sloppy, but it's a brutal scene that hopefully is an indicator of the film's overall tone.

Also starring Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Jamie Campbell Bower, Kevin Zegers, and Jared Harris, The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones opens on August 21st 2014.
