New Clip and Character Posters for 'A Single Shot' Starring Sam Rockwell

We're so used to seeing Sam Rockwell play quirky, psychotic, or just flat out irresponsible characters that it's easy to forget he's got some serious dramatic chops. You get inklings of it in The Way Way Back, when he's not acting like Bill Murray from Meatballs, and was solid all around in movies like Conviction and Moon, and now Rockwell shows off what he can do again in the indie thriller, A Single Shot.

A new clip has been revealed over at JoBlo, along with a trio of character posters. Yep, even smallscale films like this are into the character poster fad. Directed by David Rosenthal (Janie Jones) and penned by Matthew F. Jones, adapting his own novel, the film has Rockwell as an ordinary hunter who makes a terrible, fatal error that has him on the run from killers. The clip shows exactly why he's being pursued, and the mistake that could change his life forever.  It looks impressively dark and moody, and unlike anything we've seen Rockwell do before. The response out of Berlin was mixed, though, so we'll have to wait and see for ourselves if it holds up.

Also starring Melissa Leo, Jeffrey wright, Ophelia Lovibond, Kelly Reilly, William H. Macy, and Jason Isaacs, A Single Shot hits VOD on August 20th (review to come!), before opening theatrically September 20th.
