Revealing New Trailer for Ridley Scott's 'The Counselor'

After being kept largely under wraps for the bulk of its production, we've seen two trailers for Ridley Scott's The Counselor (or The Counsellor in the UK) in rapid succession, giving us a hint of the edgy, kinetic tone. It's certainly a different sort of film than we've seen from Scott in ages, and with a cast that includes Brad Pitt, Michael Fassbender, Javier Bardem, Cameron Diaz, and Penelope Cruz, it could make for a dark horse Oscar contender. Or it could just be a fun, pulpy audience flick and that would be perfectly okay.

The latest international trailer is the longest yet and reveals more of the plot than we've seen previously. Based on the first original screenplay by Cormac McCarthy, and reportedly just as violent and uncompromising as his No Country for Old Men, the film has Fassbender as a lawyer who dabbles in the drug trade and gets in way over his head. It looks like a sexy and very twisty thriller, so hopefully some of its secrets are being held back.

The Counselor takes the stand on October 25th.
