Alexandre Moors Directs 'Cannibal'; Jane Levy Joins 'Frank and Cindy'; Tye Sherdian Goes to 'Dark Places'

* After making a splash at Sundance with the DC sniper film Blue Caprice (it's quite extraordinary really), Alexandre Moors is moving on to his sophomore directorial effort, a crime thriller titled Cannibal. Reteaming with Blue Caprice scribe Ronnie Porto, the film is said to be set in the world of illegal organ trading, but that's all we know at this point. [THR]

* Evil Dead and Suburgatory star Jane Levy, quickly becoming a personal favorite, has joined the cast of indie Frank and Cindy. Oliver Platt and Rene Russo headline the film which is based on the true story of Frank Garcia, bassist for 1980s rock band OXO, and his wife Cindy Brown. Comedian Marc Maron and Johnny Simmons (Scott Pilgrim vs. The World) co-star, with Cindy Brown's son G.J. Echternkamp directing.

* More than one Gillian Flynn adaptation is in the works right now, and the one that isn't David Fincher's Gone Girl has a pretty impressive cast thus far. Tye Sherdian (Mud) has come aboard Dark Places, a big screen version of Flynn's 2009 novel about a woman who survived the brutal murder of her family as a teenager, only to be forced to relive the ordeal when a secretive society comes looking for the truth. Charlize Theron, Chloe Moretz, and Nicholas Hoult are already on board, with Sheridan playing the woman's brother who she sent away to prison for the killings. Gilles Paquet-Brenner will direct and pen the screenplay.[Deadline]
