Video Interview: Jerusha Hess and J.J. Feild Talk 'Austenland'

Opening this week is Austenland, a romantic comedy that stars Keri Russell as Jane Hayes, a lonely 30-something woman obsessed with Jane Austen and the Regency Era, and spends her life savings on a European resort that recreates the time period. The film is based on the book by Shannon Hale, who helped co-write the script with Jerusha Hess (Napoleon Dynamite), making her directorial debut. As for who gets to play Jane's Mr. Darcy? Well, there are a couple of suitors for the job in Bret McKenzie (Flight of the Conchords) and J.J. Feild as the mysterious Mr. Nobley.

I had a chance to sit down and talk to Jerusha Hess and J.J. Feild about the film; their feelings on the enduring nature of Austen's work; Keri Russell as a leading lady, and more. Unfortunately my geeky conversation with Feild about playing Union Jack in Captain America: The First Avenger is strictly confidential. Sorry, folks! Austenland opens in DC and at the Angelika Mosaic on August 23rd.
