Rupert Sanders Directing '90 Church' from Writer of 'Breaking Bad'
After making a successful debut with the $400M-grossing Snow White and the Huntsman, Rupert Sanders has been struggling to find his next project. A 'Huntsman' sequel is out, thanks to a certain tabloid controversy involving star Kristen Stewart, and his name has been attached to numerous films that either haven't gone anywhere or went to different directors. But now it sounds as if he's finally landed something concrete, and it comes from a writer of one of TV's hottest shows.
Sanders will direct 90 Church, based on the book by Agent Dean Unkefer that chronicles the early days of the DEA, back when it was known as the Federal Bureau of Narcotics and feared for its harsh tactics battle organized crime in the 1960s through the '70s. The script comes from George Mastras. an Emmy-nominated writer and producer on Breaking Bad, which is currently all over the news as the series winds to a close.
The story is fictional but base on actual events, described as "Mad Men meets The Wire", so let's hope this is a gritty, grounded take on the material and not at all like this year's Gangster Squad.
