'Warcraft' Short List Expands to Include Paul Dano, Anson Mount, and Anton Yelchin

Duncan Jones said that he'd begin filming on Warcraft early in 2014, and at the rate the casting rumors have begun to circulate that definitely appears to be the case. Yesterday word broke that Paula Patton was in negotiations to take on a female lead in the adaptation of the hit role-playing game franchise, with Colin Farrell also offered a part. Now that list of male contenders has expanded to include Paul Dano, Anson Mount, Anton Yelchin, and Travis Fimmel.

There's no word on which role they'd each be vying for, but judging by their appearances it's possible that Dano and Yelchin are up for one part, with Mount and Fimmell for another, possibly the same one Farrell is up for. Dano is coming off the #1 box office debut of Prisoners, in which he's a key factor. Yelchin is probably best known as Chekov in the last two Star Trek films, and is the title character in the Odd Thomas adaptation. Mount currently stars on FX's Sons of Anarchy, and Fimmell made a splash on the History Channel series, Vikings.

Expect to hear confirmation on casting soon, and to see Warcraft in theaters probably in 2015. [Deadline]
