Stephen Dorff and Emile Hirsch Live 'The Motel Life' In New Trailer

In one of Emile Hirsch's earliest roles, he starred in the momentarily buzzworthy The Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys, which combined live-action and animated sequences into a compelling story about the bond between friends. Hirsch's latest The Motel Life could probably be considered its spiritual and artistic cousin, and after playing at the Rome Film Festival last year we're getting our first official look.

Directed by Gabe & Alan Polsky, based on the acclaimed book by Willy Vlautin, the film stars Hirsch and Stephen Dorff as brothers living on the margins in Reno, NV. Growing up learning to depend only on one another and their vast imaginations to escape reality, they face their greatest challenge when one is involved in a fatal accident. Some of the animated sequences don't seem to fit all that well, and we'll have to see if they work better in a fuller context. We also get a glimpse at Dakota Fanning as Hirsch's former girlfriend, proving once again just how quickly time flies.

The Motel Life will hit VOD and select theaters on November 8th.
