Trailer for 'Age of Uprising: The Legend of Michael Kohlhaas' Starring Mads Mikkelsen

With the Cannes Film Festival right around the corner, it only makes sense that Mads Mikkelsen's name is popping up more often. The Hannibal star is inextricably linked with the festival, it seems, earning multiple nominations and winning Best Actor for The Hunt a couple of years ago. His next film The Salvation (trailer here) will premiere there in the Midnight section, and now a trailer has been released for Age of Uprising: The Legend of Michael Kohlhaas, which was a Palme d'Or nominee and contender for six Cesar Awards.

Directed by Arnaud des Pallieres, Mikkelsen plays the controversial real-life merchant Kohlhaas who goes on a violent lawless streak against the town of Saxony after two of his horses are confiscated. The film is based on  Heinrich von Kleist's novel, and this trailer looks like a traditional-style revenge story, painting Kohlhaas as the typical seeker of justice for the murder of his family.

Also starring Bruno Ganz and Denis Lavant, Age of Uprising: The Legend of Michael Kohlhaas hits VOD on May 30th.
