Zoe Kazan and Joaquim de Almeida Join 'Our Brand is Crisis'; Jackie Earle Haley Boards 'London has Fallen'

David Gordon Green's political film Our Brand is Crisis has added Zoe Kazan (What If) and Joaquim de Almeida (Fast Five) to the cast which already boasts Sandra Bullock, Anthony Mackie, Billy Bob Thornton, Scoot McNairy, and Ann Dowd. Based on the 2005 documentary and adapted by Peter Straughan, the story centers on American political consultants and their actions influencing the 2002 Bolivian presidential election. Almeida will play Castillo, the cold and aloof former Bolivian president running for a second term. Kazan will play a young woman who digs up dirt on the candidates. [TheWrap]

Jackie Earle Haley has joined the cast of London has Fallen, the sequel to last year's hit Olympus has Fallen. Gerard Butler, Morgan Freeman, Aaron Eckhart, Angela Bassett, Radha Mitchell, and Melissa Leo will reunite in the Babak Najafi-directed action flick which has a Secret Service agent trying to stop a terrorist attack on world leaders. Haley, who recently appeared in the Robocop remake, will play Deputy Chief Mason. [TheWrap]

'Miss Peregrine' Enrolls Asa Butterfield, Ann Dowd Joins 'Our Brand is Crisis', Sarah Gadon meets 'Louis Drax'

Tim Burton may find himself in the Oscar with his art world drama, Big Eyes, but his next film is already beginning to take shape. Eva Green has long been attached to star in Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, an adaptation of Ransom Riggs' best-selling book. Now The Wrap reports she may be joined by Asa Butterfield, who was last seen in Ender's Game. If he does come aboard he would play Jacob, a young boy investigating the murder of his grandfather at the hands of a creature known as a "hollow". Jacob eventually meets a group of kids with special abilities and their guardian, Miss Peregrine.

The cast of David Gordon Green's Our Brand is Crisis keeps getting better. Ann Dowd (Compliance, The Leftovers) has joined Sandra Bullock, Anthony Mackie, and Scoot McNairy in the George Clooney-produced political film about American political strategists and their influence on the 2002 Bolivian presidential election.

Sarah Gadon (Cosmopolis) is the latest to join The 9th Life of Louis Drax, which already has Jamie Dornan and Aaron Paul set to star. Alexandre Aja will direct the film about "a young boy who suffers a near-fatal fall on his ninth birthday. A psychologist probing into the accident is drawn into a mystery that tests the boundaries of fantasy and reality." Max Minghella is making his screenwriting debut on the adaptation of Liz Jensen's novel.

Anthony Mackie and Scoot McNairy Join 'Our Brand is Crisis'

It can be time consuming getting involved in the superhero universes of Marvel and DC, but Anthony Mackie and Scoot McNairy have found a way to work in other projects, too. Mackie, who was last seen in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, has a role in John Hillcoat's Triple Nine and Jonathan Levine's untitled Christmas comedy with Seth Rogen and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. McNairy, who has a mystery role in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, recently starred in Frank and leads AMC series Halt and Catch Fire. Now both actors have found time to join Sandra Bullock in George Clooney's political dramedy, Our Brand is Crisis.

George Clooney and Grant Heslov are producing the film with David Gordon Green at the helm of the narrative feature based on Rachel Boynton's documentary about the role American political consultants played in the 2002 Bolivian presidential election. They join Sandra Bullock in the Peter Straughan-penned film, while Billy Bob Thornton's is also in talks for a role.

Mackie is expected to return as Falcon in Avengers: Age of Ultron, while McNairy will be seen in Gone Girl opposite Ben Affleck.
