First Trailer for Pixar's 'Inside Out' Brings the Emotion

That emptiness you feel is the complete lack of Pixar movies in 2014. The studio took the year off to better prepare their upcoming slate of films, and it couldn't come at a better time. Lately there has been a lot of complaining about their sudden reliance on sequels (Cars 2, Monsters University, the upcoming Finding Dory) rather than creating the fresh, imaginative films we've grown accustomed to. But in 2015 Pixar will hit us with two completely original works, and one that sounds like an ambitious return to form is Inside Out.

Pixar has debuted the first teaser for Inside Out, which takes us inside the mind of an 11-year-old girl named Riley (Kaitlyn Dias) so we can literally meet her emotions. And this being the brain of a pre-teen, those emotions are all over the place, voiced by the likes of Bill Hader, Amy Poehler, Lewis Black, Mindy Kaling, and Phyllis Smith.  Most of this teaser is a look back at Pixar's past classics, with actual footage from the film not arriving until the end. But maybe we should be encouraged they are confident enough to lump it in with them?

Directed by Pete Docter, Inside Out opens June 19th 2015, and it will be followed later that year by The Good Dinosaur which arrives November 25th.

Sure Shots: Anne Hathaway; Cam Gigandet; Paul Dano

* How hot is Mindy Kaling right now? Making the jump from The Office into her own Fox sitcom, The Mindy Project, she's now seeing her screenwriting work attract a lot of attention. Anne Hathaway will star in The Low Self-Esteem of Lizzie Gillespie, a film co-written by Kaling and The Office's Brent Forrester. Hathaway will play the titular character, whose low self-esteem causes her to date losers until suddenly things start to turn around when the hottest guy ever starts pursuing her. This one's still pretty early on as Hathaway is plenty busy, so a director will be sought in the meantime. Kaling will also co-star in a supporting role. [THR]

* Somebody out there still thinks Cam Gigandet can be...something, I guess. He of the bushy eyebrows will star with comedian Nick Thune in the sex comedy, Johnson. Yes, the title says a lot in this case. Directed Huck Botko(The Virginity Hit), the film follows a womanizer who wakes up one morning to find that his overworked penis has left his body and taken on human form. Somehow in there is supposed to be a story about becoming a better man. I'm surprised a studio has the balls to greenlight this thing! Gigandet will play the womanizer, while Thune is the "johnson". [THR]

* It's already been a pretty good year for Paul Dano, what with four films under his belt, including Looper which is in theaters right now. Adding to what should be an equally strong 2013, Dano has joined the cast of Prisoners, the promising new revenge thriller from Denis Villeneuve(Incendies). Dano will join Hugh Jackman, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Melissa Leo in the film that follows a small-town carpenter who takes the law into his own hands after the cops fail to find his abducted daughter and best friend. After a long delay, Prisoners is set to finally begin filming early next year. Dano will be seen next in Steve McQueen's Twelve Years A Slave. [Variety]
