Disney Reveals New Images from 'The Good Dinosaur' and 'Inside Out'

Last night Disney began the promo rollout for what's shaping up to be a huge 2015 campaign. They dropped a brand new Avengers: Age of Ultron image, but as we all know that was really just the tip of the iceberg for what the Mouse House has in store. A couple of brand new animated films from Pixar are on the way in The Good Dinosaur and Inside Out, and now there's some pics to feast your eyes on.

Arriving on June 19th 2015 will be the ambitious Inside Out, which takes us into the mind of a young girl and creates characters out of her emotions. Peter Docter is directing this one with Mindy Kaling, Bill Hader, Diane Lane, Amy Poehler, and Lewis Black part of the voice cast. And then there's The Good Dinosaur, which has undergone some pretty significant changes beginning with the firing of original director, Bob Peterson. The project has since been taken over by Peter Sohn, and how much he's changed the plot is still a mystery. What we know is that it presents a world where dinosaurs never became extinct and now live side-by-side with humans. That film arrives on November 25th.

Pixar's Peter Sohn Confirmed as 'The Good Dinosaur' Director in New Video

If everything had gone according to plan we'd have already seen Pixar's The Good Dinosaur. But like many of their projects a major overhaul took place midstream when Bob Peterson was removed as director, leading to a bumping of the release date from last May to next year. The odd thing was that Pixar never revealed who Peterson's replacement was, but now we know and it's Pixar veteran, Peter Sohn.

Pixar revealed the news in a video tweet showing Sohn drawing the lead dinosaur, Arlo. The original story was to have taken place on an Earth that didn't see the dinosaurs wiped out by an asteroid, so that they now live in harmony alongside humans. Jon Lithgow, Judy Greer, Lucas Neff, Neil Patrick Harris, and Bill Hader were lending their voices to the project, but it's unclear if that is still the case or if the story has been changed.

As for Sohn, he's been with Pixar more than a decade as an animator, occasional voice actor, and storyboard artist. He had been co-directing the The Good Dinosaur with Peterson at the time of the latter's removal, so it only made sense for him to take over. The Good Dinosaur opens November 25th 2015.

First Poster for Pixar's 'The Good Dinosaur'

Pixar is still trying to iron out some story problems with The Good Dinosaur, and last we heard the film was getting moved from its May 2014 perch to November 2015. A brain trust of the studio's finest was brought in to replace director Bob Peterson and overhaul a story that posits what would happen if the asteroid that wiped out the dinosaurs misses the mark. Footage was shown at D23 and response to it was positive, in particular the visual risks being taken. How much of that footage will remain is anybody's guess, and with so much work left to be done it's a little surprising to see a new teaser poster emerge.

The image showcases Arlo (voiced by Lucas Neff), a dinosaur from an agrarian society who goes off on a personal quest and discovers one of the first humans, who he names Spot. Arlo and Spot come to realize they are both outcasts from their people, and it's their friendship that serves as the basis for the film. But again, it'll be interesting to see how much the story evolves over the next two years.
