THOR Hammers Out it's Warriors Three!

The Thor casting news keeps coming a mile a friggin' minute. Every week it seems like it's something new, and for the most part it's all been awesome. This news is probably the best I've read, as Variety has revealed that Ray Stevenson(Punisher War Zone), Tadanobu Asano(Mongol), and Stuart Townsend(Queen of the Damned) have signed on to play Thor's battlin' buddies The Warriors Three!

It's pretty obvious which characters will play who. The hulking Stevenson will take on the role of the brutish Volstagg. Volstagg was initially conceived as a cowardly character who grew into a fearsome warrior. Asano will play Hogun the Grim, a stoic Western-esque character. And the unfortunate Stuart Townsend will play Fandral the Dashing. Unfortunate because I've never known Stuey(as Charlize Theron calls him) to be in any roles I've actually enjoyed, but I guess this is as good a place to start as any. The Warriors Three differ greatly from the rest of the Thor characters because they are not actually based in Norse mythology and are wholly owned creation of Marvel Comics. The characters debuted back in 1965 in an issue of Journey into Mystery, written and drawn by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby.

*UPDATE*

The Variety article that initially released this news has since been taken down. Now that could be something as simple as an HTML error that needs fixing...or the more likely scenario that the news within it is inaccurate. We'll just have to wait and see!
