Red Sonja is Dead! Long Live.....Red Sonja?

When Rose McGowan was cast as a supporting character in the upcoming Conan film, I speculated(per my comments after the story) that the film would proceed ahead but she would not be involved in it.  The Conan thing was the final deathknell to her possible participation in Red Sonja. Looks like my keen powers of foresight continue to only swell in strength. Pajiba is reporting that not only is McGowan out of the project, but so is director Douglas Aarniokoski.

That's hardly the big news. The real kicker is that Robert Rodriguez and Millennium Films already have an offer out to replace McGowan in the title role. That actress looks remarkably like the woman just below....

Yep. Megan Fox. With the new direction for this version of Red Sonja(she's a teenager who transforms into Red Sonja), Megan Fox seems like a more natural fit than that aging crone McGowan(just kiding). Actually it might not be all that bad for her, since she desperately needs a movie she can truly call her own. Something not written by Diablo Cody.

Nothing is confirmed as of yet, but I'm sure more news will start flooding the 'net shortly. Nobody gets the rumor mill churning the way a Megan Fox story can.
