Admittadley I don't know this kid from a hole in the ground but apparently he's a teenage R&B singer. The following is from Variety via TheMovieBlog:

Music Industry sources were rumouring that Sony Music trying to sway teenage R&B Artist Justin Bieber away from Island Def Jam has been reported as false. A Sony rep is quoted in a public statement saying “We respect Mr Bieber’s current musical career and Sony Music is not trying to challenge his contract at all. Look at this kid! I know Spidey's supposed to be in High School at the start but he looks like he's in Jr. High, tops. I still think the red and blue should be someone who can pull of nerdy but still looks like they can handle themselves, Beiber looks like he's one bad joke short of getting a swirly in the boy's locker room. Take this with a grain of salt as we don't know how interested they are in this casting choice but when Variety reports on something it tends to be more true than not.
