Major League 4 Coming to a Diamond Near You?

I've long said that the greatest sports movie of all-time isn't The Natural....or Hoosiers...or anything like that. It's Major League. Hell, it's one of the best movies of the 80s. Period. Forget The Empire Strikes Back, I've watched Major League more than any other movie. Granted the sequels that followed have been one big Bob Ojeda lollypop hanging curveball, but the 1989 original is spectacular.

There have been rumblings for awhile about a potential 4th film in the series, which would hopefully air out the stink left over from the horrid third Scott Bakula starring film, Major League: Back to the Minors. According to writer David Ward in an interview with Moviehole, not only is the script completed but a certain Rick "Wild Thing" Vaughn could be returning for another stint in the majors...

Ward: "I've written, what I see, as Major League 3. We're putting that together as we speak - in fact, next week I'm off to talk to James Robinson at Morgan Creek about it.

"It's 20 years later, and Wild Thing comes out of retirement to work with this 19-year-old player", Ward says of the storyline. "We've actually got three new characters in the new film. And if the new film is popular, they could carry the franchise on".

Ward wants the rest of the original crew to return:, Tom Berenger, Wesley Snipes, Corbin Bernsen, and he damn well better include Dennis Haysbert. Ward indicates that only Charlie Sheen has been spoken to about it, and he says the actor is game for it if it all comes together. Sheen would only be available to shoot after his stint on Two and a Half Men is over, however.
