Well, looks like in this case it may just be dead. Sources all over the net are reporting the demise of the planned Robocop reboot. What we know for sure is that Darren Aronofsky has left the project. Sources at Moviehole.com have the following quote from a supposed MGM insider;
"Gone. Kaput. Canceled. It was one of the first casualties", my Metro-Goldwyn Buddy said. "[Darren] has lost interest anyway, I believe. Think we're all just going to have to be happy with the three RoboCop movies that are out there."
Just as well if you ask me. I don't think any modern day reboot could have captured what made the original so special; a mixture of ultra-violence, humor, political themes and classic 80's style dialouge. If they made another one I'm sure it would just take the gimmick of a dead cop turned cyborg and forget all of the other ingredients. It seems that's how you make a reboot pie, just the core elements....none of what made it special. What do you think? Is there more to be told in the Robocop saga? Would the series benefit from a modern day treatment? TELL US! WE NEED TO KNOW!!!!
