Norton Issues Statement about The Avengers

Ed Norton's always been a classy guy in my opinion. Not just a superb actor, he's also done a lot of uncredited work with some of the best films he starred in. The Incredible Hulk, for example, he helped co-write the script with Zak Penn but again wasn't credited. Sounds like a team player to me, which is why Marvel's statement that they wanted someone who embodies a "collaborative spirit" makes about as much sense as hiring a guy who recently ditched his acting career to become a rapper. Oops, that's what Marvel supposedly is doing...

We've heard from Norton's agent, who did what you'd expect an agent to do which is hurl rocks back at the studio. But we hadn't heard from Norton. Until now. On his Facebook page he posted this response...

I wasn't expecting Norton so say anything at all, but that he cared enough to put out this statement says a lot. The part that caught my eye? "I am very sincerely grateful to Marvel for extending the offer". He's clearly pushing the idea that this was a monetary issue and nothing more. I'm more inclined to believe him based on Marvel's lowballing history.
