Matthew Vaughn to adapt superhero comic, The Golden Age
Briefly...
We heard from Matthew Vaughn's frequent collaborator, Jane Goldman, that Matthew Vaughn wasn't likely to jump into Kick-Ass once he's done with X-men: First Class, but he was looking to adapt another comic. Turns out he's switching his focus from the youngster mutants to an older generation of hero, as he plans to adapt Tommy Lee Edwards and Jonathan Ross's comic, The Golden Age.
Deadline describes the story as "retired superheroes who help out their grandchildren when their middle-aged parents screw up the world." Vaughn would be on board initially as producer with hopes to direct.
The kicker for me is that Vaughn wants an all-star, The Expendables style cast. He hopes to snag Clint Eastwood, Warren Beatty, and Jack Nicholson for roles. Nicholson with a cape and possibly a mask? Dude, count me in!
Since I couldn't find an image of The Golden Age comic, the one we used comes from our friends at Bleeding Cool! Thanks, guys.
