So if everyone is "happy" with the Men in Black 3 script, why is David Koepp rewriting it?
I'm not going to spend a lot of time on this one. When Josh Brolin told MTV that the Men in Black III script was fantastic and everyone was happy with it, the look on his face told me something wasn't quite right. He looked like someone who had just picked your pocket. In fact, here's what he actually said about it...
"The script is fantastic," he said. "We're very, very happy. I wish I could read you this email that Barry sent me. He's very happy, which makes me happy."
The Barry he's referring to is director Barry Sonnenfeld, who apparently typed out his disdain in invisible text. This comment was very specifically about the time travel sequence of the film, which sees Agent J(Will Smith) going back in time and running into a young version of Agent K(Brolin). So if everything was hunky-dory with Jeff Nathanson's script, then why is Deadline reporting that David Koepp has been brought in to rewrite those problematic time travel portions?
Whatever. I'm not exactly a big fan of Koepp(Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull), but there's a very good chance I won't care for this film no matter who is writing it. Sony has plenty of time to get everything settled and back on track. Men in Black III is due to hit theaters in 3D on May 25th, 2012.
movie makers like to create a never ending story, how many more aliens should we see?
