Sure Shots: Fisher joins J. Edgar; The Runner; Superman

* The casting for Clint Eastwood's Hoover biopic, J. Edgar, just won't quit. Last night we learned that Jeffrey Donovan(Changeling) would be starring as Robert Kennedy in the film, and now Deadline confirms young actor Miles Fisher has signed on. He'll be playing Agent Garrison, one of tbe FBI agents interviewing his boss at different stages of the movie. Fisher is probably best known for his role in Superhero Movie, and has a major role in Final Destination 5 upcoming. Read the Deadline story and you'll be "convinced" they were responsible for the guy's success.

* Disney has snatched up a pitch titled The Runner, a decidedly dark time travel thriller from writer Dave Andron. It's being packaged as a vehicle for director Marc Forster(The Kite Runner) and producer Brian Grazer. The story involves the survivors of a devastated future Earth, sending back one of their own back in time to try and prevent the disaster. He instead chooses to try and save the life of the woman he loves. What an epic douche! Disney hopes to turn this into a multi-platorm franchise. Thanks to Deadline for that story as well.

* True Blood wolfy guy Joe Manganiello had been rumored to be one of the lead contenders to play Superman in Zack Snyder's relaunch of the iconic DC Comics property. Obviously that didnt turn out in his favor. Over the weekend, he revealed that he wasn't exactly beaten out by Henry Cavill, but that the shoot date would've interfered with his True Blood schedule. Dude. Maybe it's a contract thing, but I'd dump an HBO series in a heartbeat for a chance to wear the red & blue. You crazy, homie. Thanks for the info, Movieweb!
