Thandie Newton warms up to Tyler Perry's Good Deeds

As expected, it didn't take long for Tyler Perry to start casting for his new non-Madea film, Good Deeds. Variety reports that he's cast his For Colored Girls star, Thandie Newton, to play his love interest. What? And I thought he'd pick Loretta Devine. *snort*

Perry is producing, writing and directing the romance, about "entrepeneur who's about to get married when he becomes enamored with a down-on-her-luck single mom."  Shooting is set to begin later this month in Atlanta. 

Newton will next be seen in Retreat, starring Cillian Murphy, Jamie Bell, and directed by newcomer Carl Tibbetts.
