Christopher Lloyd, Paul Scheer, Ving Rhames confirmed for Piranha 3DD

So far the casting of John Gulager's fishy sequel, Piranha 3DD, has been underwhelming. David Koechner(Anchorman) isn't nearly as much fun, or trashy in a "barely a celeb" sorta way that a guy like Jerry O'Connell is. And Adam Scott(Party Down) is always good to watch getting put through the ringer, even if he's the good guy. It was starting to look like John Gulager's(Feast) film would be a piss poor follow-up which would probably be better served debuting on a Friday night on the SyFy Channel. But now there's some reason to hope, as Christopher Lloyd, Paul Scheer, and Ving Rhames are all confirmed to be reprising their roles from the first film. How some of them survived is beyond me.

Rhames actually told us last year that his Deputy Fallon character had survived, and that he would likely be back. So I've always included him in the cast lists for the sequel, but now I guess it's official. Scheer, who played Drew the cameraman, just sorta vanished from the story. His death scene was actually cut out, but I'm betting he'll get a nice extended and particularly horrific demise this time around. Lloyd, who played eccentric scientist Dr. Goodman, stayed off the menu last time so it was almost a given he'd return. Maybe they can introduce his time traveling twin who goes back in time to stop the fish before they were born? Just an idea.

Piranha 3DD is due to hit theaters on November 23rd!
