Trailer Time: Moneyball, starring Brad Pitt and Jonah Hill

I really don't understand all the excitement over Moneyball that it even deserves to be featured on Entertainment Tonight. Sure, it's got a fantastic cast featuring Brad Pitt, Jonah Hill, Philip Seymour Hoffman, and Robin Wright. But what else? A boring premise for one thing, based on Michael Lewis's 2003 book about how Oakland A's general manager Billy Beane used untraditional analytical methods to draft players. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.  There's an even more disturbing reason why this film is overrated before it's even released, and it's that nobody seemed to even want the damn thing.

Moneyball has gone through a ton of crap just getting released. Steven Soderbergh was initially set to direct, based on Stan Chervin's script. Sony and Soderbergh argued over some creative stuff, and Soderbergh was canned. The film was offered to other studios who politely declined, which is odd considering the powerhouse cast. Then Steve Zaillian rewrote the script which was then finished by Aaron Sorkin(The Social Network) and again by Zaillian. >sigh<  Sorkin's involvement provides some hope, and so does Bennett Miller(Capote) as director, but still I can't get excited.

If you can stomach the obnoxious and irritating ET hosts, check out the trailer below. It kicks off about 45 seconds in, and you'll still get their awful input over top of it. Moneyball opens on September 23rd.
