Trailer Time: Battleship, starring Taylor Kitsch and Liam Neeson

When I first heard they were making a film based on the Battleship board game, my hope that it'd be a documentary on those addicted to the Milton-Bradley guessing game were quickly dashed. Peter Berg don't do documentaries. The closest he'll likely ever come was Friday Night Lights.  No, Battleship would be a massively budgeted($200M!) alien invasion flick taking place on the high seas. Wait a minute. If Signs taught me anything it's that aliens are allergic to water. What gives?

Battleship stars Taylor Kitsch as a hot shot naval officer given unexpected responsibility when the action starts. Brooklyn Decker as his fiance, and Liam Neeson as her Admiral father.  Alexander Skarsgard, Josh Pence, Rihanna, and Tadanobu Asano(Thor, Mongol) also star. I feel like we just saw the entire movie. Let's face it, there's not going to be a lot more to Battleship. Rock music, lots of wave crashing explosions, and hopefully plenty more of Decker. Come to think of it, this is the second movie this year where she makes out with somebody on a beach, but at least it's somebody young and not that relic Adam Sandler. Battleship sets sail into theaters on May 18th 2012!
