Wendell Pierce, Clifton Collins Jr. join Parker adaptation

Two great, under appreciated character actors Wendell Pierce and Clifton Collins Jr., have joined the cast of Parker, Taylor Hackford's(Ray, Love Ranch) adaptation based on the gritty crime noirs of Donald Westlake under the pseudonym Richard Stark. The Parker character has been presented on screen before, most notably in the awesome 1967 actioner, Point Blank, and by Mel Gibson in 1999's Payback.

Jason Statham will play the hardened criminal, who frequently gets double-crossed and has to seek revenge. Jennifer Lopez is on board, with Black Swan co-writer John J. McGlaughlin penning the script.

Pierce is probably best known for his TV work, with show stealing turns in The Wire and currently on HBO's Treme. Collins most recently made a hilarious cameo in Scott Pilgrim vs. The World(alongside Thomas Jane), and has stood out in films like Capote, The Perfect Game, and Sunshine Cleaning. [Variety]
