Lionsgate sets release date for The Hunger Games sequel, Catching Fire

I'm not quite sold on that The Hunger Games is going to be the huge Twilight-level hit that some might be expecting. While Suzanne Collins' trilogy of novels has a rabid fan base, I don't see it having the level of appeal as those glittery vampires and their pale gal pal. Lionsgate doesn't appear to be the least bit worried about it, though, as they've already announced a release date for the sequel: November 22nd 2013.

The second book in the series is titled Catching Fire, and it takes a sharp turn from the storyline of the 1st book. I won't go into too much detail on it for fear of spoiling something, but I'll say that there is indeed another hunger games that takes place, but under very different circumstances. The third book is an even sharper shift in focus.

The Hunger Games is due to hit theaters on March 23rd 2012, directed by Gary Ross. If you'd like to see a couple of new photos from the film, and a brief breakdown of the plot, then you just go right here.
