Rumor: Rufus Sewell to join Alex Proyas' Paradise Lost?
Variety reported, then pulled a story claiming that Rufus Sewell was set to team up with his Dark City director, Alex Proyas, in his special effects heavy adaptation of Paradise Lost. Other credible sites are running with the story, though, so we'll just have to wait and see how this shakes out.
Paradise Lost is based on John Milton's 17th century blank verse poem about the fall of man and Satan's war against Heaven. Bradley Cooper is on board as Lucifer, corrupting seraphs with those dazzling blue eyes of his. Just try and turn away, I dare you. Benjamin Walker is the angel Michael, with Djimon Hounsou recently signing on as Abdiel the angel of death.
It's not clear what role Sewell would play if he does in fact sign. With Proyas sparing no expense on the effects budget, an incredible amount of pre and post production is going to be required, so we won't see this film until well into 2013. The film is being primed as an action flick, so expect to see thousands of angels in pitched aerial combat. Get those Legion thoughts out of your head.
