Shocked? Paul W. S. Anderson and Milla Jojovich back for Resident Evil: Retribution

Was there ever any doubt that Paul W. S. Anderson would be back with his Amazonian wife, Milla Jojovich for the fifth Resident Evil film? Titled Resident Evil: Retribution, it's springing from the wildly successful Resident Evil: Afterlife, which had the largest box office haul of the entire franchise. It also featured some of the best usage of 3D of any film in 2010. This may come as a shock, but RE is one of the most profitable franchises in recent memory, earning over $670M worldwide against only $180M in production costs. And you wonder why these movies keep getting cranked out?

Jojovich will be reprising he role as the genetically altered super chick, Alice. Anderson, who has written and produced all of the films so far, will be directing his third in the series so far. As much as I dislike Anderson as a filmmaker, he actually does a pretty good job with these movies. Can't hate on him for that. One bit of sad news is that Sienna Guillory, who played Jill Valentine in Apocalypse and Afterlife, won't be returning. Her part will be recast.

Fans of the RE video games have already seen a good portion of it's most memorable characters appear in the movies, but more are about to be added: Barry Barton, a member of S.T.A.R.S.(Special Tactics And Rescue Service), and arguably the series' most popular character, Leon Kennedy, a government agent who once served as a cop in Raccoon City.
