Sure Shots: Nick Nolte; Jesse Eisenberg; Scoot McNairy join Ben Affleck's Argo

* Nick Nolte is in the midst of a career resurgence, although appearing in Zookeeper just last month could be considered career suicide. He's finding himself more in demand than than in quite awhile, and now he's joined the cast of Parker, the film based on the character created by Donald Westlake, and portrayed on screen by Mel Gibson in the 1999 film Payback, and by Lee Marvin in 1967's Point Blank. Taylor Hackford(Ray, Love Ranch) will direct the film, based on an original story John J. McGlaughlin. Jason Statham will play Parker, a ruthless career criminal with a strict personal code. Jennifer Lopez, Wendell Pierce, Michael Chiklis, and Clifton Collins Jr. also star.

* Jesse Eisenberg continues to take a bold approach to the film's he'll be starring in. No longer content to play the socially awkward brain, his upcoming slate is as diverse as anyone's. One of his upcoming starring roles fits into quite neatly, as he'll be featured in Richard Ayoade's follow-up to Submarine, an adaptation of Dostoyevsky's 1846 novella, The Double: A Petersburg Poem. The story follows a government employee who starts to go insane when a literal facsimile of himself starts working in his office, and begins to ruin his good name. [Vulture]

* Scoot McNairy(Monsters, Cogan's Trade) has joined the cast of Ben Affleck's next directorial effort, the Israeli hostage film, Argo. McNairy's role is unclear, but is it possible he'll play one of the hostages, who we've previously learned will be put through a rigorous program designed to recreate their trapped environment? Affleck will star, along with the previously confirmed Alan Arkin, Bryan Cranston, and John Goodman. [Variety]
