Trailer Time: Intruders, directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo
As Juan Carlos Fresnadillo(28 Weeks Later) scrambles for a suitable star for his reboot of The Crow, his most recent film is only a few weeks away from premiering in Toronto. That would be Intruders, which in May when the first trailer came out I said had a vibe similar to The Orphanage. Well, this one takes a big fat dump all over what was intended to be a positive observation. Starring Clive Owen as a father dealing with his daughter apparently being haunted by some sort of restless spirit at the same time a kid in a different country is as well. Gone is the tension, mood, and atmosphere fostered in the first trailer, replaced by an abundance of cliche. Maybe I'm still suffering the after effects of seeing Don't Be Afraid of the Dark last night, but movies like this have worn out their welcome.
Intruders doesn't have a lot of steam behind it, but we'll see how it holds up in the coming weeks.
