It seems strangely appropriate that Meg Foster, the woman who played Evil Lyn in Masters of the Universe, would be joining the cast of Rob Zombie's latest horror flick, The Lords of Salem. Now if only the heavy metal rocker could find a way to work Skeletor himself into the plot, I'd be a very happy man indeed. Foster is best recognized(by me anyway) for her role in John Carpenter's 1988 film, They Live, which starred WWE legend Rowdy Roddy Piper.
The Lords of Salem, as you probably guessed, deals in some way with the Salem Witch Trials, and the victims returning to wreak havoc in today's age. Sherri Moon Zombie, Rob's wife and star of every film he's ever made, will again be the lead in this one, while Foster is the leader of a secret coven of witches. Oren Peli, creator of the Paranormal Activity franchise, is on board as one of the film's producers. Any chance of Zombie directing Paranormal Activity 4? Eh?
After House of 1000 Corpses and The Devil's Rejects, Zombie was starting to look like the king of a more twisted, visceral form of horror movie. Two somewhat poorly received Halloween flicks may have dulled that reputation, so maybe The Lords of Salem will be his comeback? Shooting should be kicking off in the next few weeks, so look for this one to land some time in 2012. [Facebook]
