Dave Bautista, Katee Sackhoff offered roles in third 'Chronicles of Riddick' film

So things don't seem to be going all that well for Vin Diesel and his self financed, R-rated third installment of The Chronicles of Riddick series, currently titled Dead Man Stalking. Yesterday TMZ reported that production on the film had come to a sudden halt because Diesel's production company, One Race Films, had failed to pay the Montreal studio where it's being shot. D'oh.  How much of that is true or not is yet to be known, but in the meantime there's been some offers made to some folks in case filming ever gets rollin' again.

Ex-WWE superstar turned failed MMA grappler Dave Bautista, Katee Sackhoff(Battlestar Galactica), Bokeem Woodbine(Strapped), and Andrea Aspergis have been made offers to join the film, which Diesel hopes to release some time in 2012. Last month it was reported that Karl Urban would be back to reprise his role as Necromonger Vaako from the last film, although to the best of my knowledge that hasn't actually been confirmed. Someone fill me in if you know for sure.

Aspergis would play a character named Krone, a commander of the dark theocracy. Ok.  Sackhoff would play a Nordic merc named Dahl.

David Twohy, writer/director of both Pitch Black and The Chronicles of Riddick, is back for this installment as well. Bear in mind these are just offers with nothing accepted as of yet. Bautista I keep expecting to show back up on WWE TV, but that ain't gonna happen as long as he keeps getting acting jobs. Sackhoff is a sci-fi vet and should be a welcome addition.

If Universal is really backing this film, I don't foresee these financial issues lasting all that long. Then again the last film struggled to break even, and the demand for a sequel has been most vocal by only Diesel. [BloodyDisgusting]
