Sure Shots: Zombieland; Nicolas Cage; Shia Labeouf

* Bid a fond farewell to that Zombieland sequel the cast has been dancing around. It'll never see the light of day....at least not on the big screen. Instead, writers Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese are developing a half hour comedy TV series based on the film. Fox and Sony Pictures Television are putting the project together, with a plan for it to be ready for the 2012-2013 season. This isn't at all surprising considering the success of The Walking Dead. Expect to see lots more zombies on the small screen in the coming years.  [THR]

* Thank goodness for Nic Cage. His IRS troubles have brought me no end of enjoyment as he's forced to take every single film thrown his way. The next will be the thriller Black Butterfly, directed by actor turned filmmaker, Brian Goodman(Lost, What Doesn't Kill You). The film is a remake of a French TV film, and follows a writer who lets a drifter into his home with "unforeseen circumstances" Veronica Ferres(Adam Resurrected) co-stars. Cage will likely tackle this one after he completes the serial killer pic, The Frozen Ground. [ScreenDaily]

* Shia Labeouf as a 20 foot tall man child? Was The Big Show unavailable? Gheorghe Mureşan?  Labeouf has signed on star in the unconventional romance currently titled A Giant. The film follows a broke girl running away from a series of crappy relationships, who returns home to reconnect with her brother. Instead she forms a relationship with a 20 foot tall dude who lives next door. Gil Kenan(Monster House) both wrote and will direct. [Variety]
