The Dark Knight Rises preview confirmed....but only on 70MM IMAX screens

Last week news broke of Warner Brothers' plan to show a six minute preview of The Dark Knight Rises ahead of early IMAX showings of Mission: Impossible-Ghost Protocol. It was a move that confused some people, since Mission: Impossible is coming courtesy of Paramount, but to me it made sense because it gives people a glimpse at why they should spend the extra dough to see Christopher Nolan's flick next year. And of course Paramount gets a few extra butts in seats to see Tom Cruise scale a building for the fourth time. All good.

Well, there's just one catch. AMC recently confirmed the preview will occur, but it will only be shown at 70mm IMAX screens. That means you won't be able to go to one of those tiny, rinky dink digital IMAX theaters to see it. Sorry, folks. It's gotta be "true" IMAX. AMC will release a comprehensive list of the theaters showing the preview in the coming days.

Mission: Impossible-Ghost Protocol opens in IMAX theaters on December 16th, before going national five days later.
