Sure Shots: Emma Stone; Debra Granik; Django Unchained
* Emma Stone isn't looking likely to star in He's Fucking Perfect, the comedy from Will Ferrell and Adam McKay's production company, centered on a tech savvy woman with a penchant for scrutinizing her friends' relationships, until she finds the man of her dreams. She then uses all of her social networking skills to mold herself into his perfect match. On the plus side, Jake Szymanski, an alum of Ferrell's Funny Or Die website, is in talks to direct. The script comes from Lauryn Kahn, a former assistant to McKay. Expect that title to get changed somewhere along the way, too. [Deadline]
* Debra Granik has already had two movies with the word 'Bone' in the title(Down to the Bone, Winter's Bone), and has found remarkable critical success with both. So why not go for a trifecta? She's set to write and direct an adaptation of Rule of the Bone, from author Russell Banks. The story centers on a troubled 14-year old boy who runs off to Jamaica to find his real father after being kicked out of the house. The hope, as relayed by Banks himself, was to shoot by the end of the year, but clearly that's not going to happen. So hopefully we'll hear more on this film in the coming weeks. * Hey, remember the redhead lounge singer chick in Lost in Translation who sang a couple sultry tunes before landing in the sack with Bill Murray? That was Australian jazz singer Catherine Lambert and she's been revealed to have a role in Quentin Tarantino's western, Django Unchained. Chances are the part will be tiny, and involve her belting out songs in a saloon or something, but it's still a pretty cool addition. Lambert and Tarantino met in 2004 and sang a little karaoke, and apparently they've kept in touch. Filming on the film should begin in the next couple of weeks, with a planned release on Christmas Day 2012. [AdelaideNow]
