Sure Shots: Ender's Game; The Lone Ranger; The Hobbit

* Brendan Meyer(not to be confused with Breckin Meyer) is in talks to play Stilson in Gavin Hood's adaptation of Ender's Game. The revered science fiction series by Orson Scott Card follows Andrew "Ender" Wiggin, a child soldier born and bred to  be a leader in Earth's war against a hostile race of insect aliens known as the "Buggers". Asa Butterfield is set to star, with Harrison Ford, Ben Kingsley, and Hailee Steinfeld circling roles as well. Stilson is a bully who attempts to beat up Ender but winds up being severely injured in the attack. [THR]

* One of my favorite character actors, James Frain(The Cape, Tron: Legacy) has joined the cast of The Lone Ranger, where he'll play an evil railroad foreman working alongside the film's primary villain, Latham Cole(Tom Wilkinson). The film reunites the Pirates of the Caribbean team of Johnny Depp, director Gore Verbinski, and producer Jerry Bruckheimer. Armie Hammer will star as the masked gunslinger, with Depp as his Native American sidekick, Tonto. The Lone Ranger is due to open on May 31st 2013. [THR]

* We've known it for awhile, but Warner Brothers has finally confirmed that the trailer for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey will be attached to showing of The Adventures of Tintin starting on December 21st.
