* It was way back in January when Sacha Gervasi(Anvil: The Story of Anvil) came aboard to direct an adaptation of Stephen Robello's non-fiction book, Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho. After something like four years in development, the project has now moved from Paramount to 20th Century Fox and appears to be on track. Anthony Hopkins is set to star as the famed filmmaker, with Helen Mirren in talks to play his wife, Alma Reville. The story, adapted by John McLaughlin(Black Swan) will follow Hitchock's relationship with his wife while trying to finance his revered horror classic. Production is set to begin in April. [THR]
* Was Saw 3D really the final chapter? Eh, probably not, even though the horror franchise went out with a wimper after the arrival of it's cheaply produced, found footage nemesis, Paranormal Activity. While talking to CNBC, Lionsgate Vice Chairman Michael Burns was asked about a possible return of Jigsaw, to which he replied "I'm sure, some day, you'll see Saw back in the picture." Here's hoping "some day" is a long ways off. Saw needs a good decade out the picture before it can have any serious impact again.
* The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo doesn't open for another couple of weeks, and already talk is starting to spread about the rest of the trilogy. While David Fincher isn't signed to return as director, in a story by the New York Times, they noted that the next two films, The Girl Who Played with Fire and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest, would be shot in the next 12-18 months. Does that mean they'd be filmed back-to-back? Sure sounds like it.
