Think of The Divide as a sort of post-apocalyptic Lord of the Flies on steroids. The highly anticipated film by Xavier Gens(Hitman) is set in the near in the midst of widespread panic and hysteria just moments before a nuclear attack devastates New York City. Nine tenants of a high rise apartment escape to a basement turned fallout shelter. Stuck for days with limited supplies and untold horrors awaiting them outside, the group begins to descend into madness, ultimately turning on each other in increasingly depraved ways.
The film stars Michael Biehn, Milo Ventimiglia, Ashton Holmes, Peter Stormare, Rosanna Arquette, Courtney B. Vance, and Lauren German. After it premiered at SXSW, the huge wave of excitement for it was met by fierce competition for the US distribution rights, which were snatched up by Anchor Bay, who plan to release it on January 13th. Now we have a look at the chaotic opening sequence in which we meet German, Ventimiglia, and Vance's characters as they fight against the other fleeing tenants to find a place to hide.
