Saw co-creator Leigh Whannell to write, produce, and star in dark comedy The Mule

Leigh Whannell will probably always be most closely associated with the Saw franchise, which he co-created and wrote the first three film for. Having spoken to him and his frequent collaborator James Wan earlier this year for their surprise hit, Insidious, I know he also wants to find a way to establish himself outside of the horror genre. It looks like he may be making his first steps into doing just that.

With the financial support of Screen Australia backing him, Whannell is set to co-write, produce, and star in The Mule, a dark comedy to be directed by newcomer Tony Mahony. Whannell will play "unlikely drug mule Ray Jenkins, from Victoria, who takes on all the authority figures in his life using the only option within his control – holding on."

What does any of that mean? I'm assuming it means he's going to try and NOT poop out the drugs in his system, as an act of defiance. So this is kinda like the anti-Maria Full of Grace?[IF.com]
